I've been through posterior vitreous detachment twice, a retinal tear, and a macular pucker, and I've sat in the waiting room wondering whether what I was reading online was true or just another TikTok cure. Floaters Focus is the bridge I wish I'd had: plain-English explanations backed by actual studies, not hype.
What You'll Find Here
Everything on the site falls into one of four buckets: what the evidence actually says (RCTs, major guidelines, FDA labels), what's a waste of money and why, when you need a doctor, yesterday, this week, or next year, and products that match the science, whose affiliate links keep the site free.
Evidence Standards
Every claim gets a grade from this hierarchy:
- Grade A — randomized controlled trials plus AAO/TFOS/AREDS guidelines. Rare in this field. When we have it, we cite it.
- Grade B — one or a few RCTs, or conflicting results. Promising, but hold your enthusiasm.
- Grade C — mechanism plus small trials. We say plainly when that's all there is.
- Grade F — contradicted by the evidence. We name it anyway, because someone on social media is selling it.
I cite the actual studies (PMID, DOI) so you can verify. If I say "study shows," you can click through and read the abstract yourself.
Affiliate Links — How We Stay Free
When I recommend a product, I link to retailers (Amazon, Walmart, brand sites) using affiliate tracking. If you buy through our link, I earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you.
This does not influence which products I recommend. My process:
- Identify the evidence-based treatment for a condition
- Find products that match the study formula/form/dose
- Verify third-party testing, label accuracy, and bioavailability
- Add affiliate links for the ones that pass
If a better product comes along, I swap it. If a product is discontinued or reformulated, I remove it. My quarterly audit keeps things current.

Who's Behind This
This site is built and maintained by NP Bate, Ed.S.I'm not an ophthalmologist; I'm someone who's been through two PVDs, a retinal tear, and a macular pucker, and who spent years translating the research for myself because it wasn't available in one place.
